Abstract

Music therapy is a form of therapy that uses music as the primary tool to promote the mental, emotional, physical, and social health of individuals. Conducted by professionals known as music therapists, this therapeutic approach involves the application of musical techniques tailored to the specific needs of each client. The goals of music therapy include improving mental health, stimulating cognitive function, developing social skills, relieving stress, and facilitating emotional expression. Typically, this technique is applied in specialized clinics and often in school clinics. At Centro Universitário das Faculdades Metropolitanas Unidas, sessions may encompass various activities such as music listening, musical creation, singing, dancing, and the use of instruments, providing personalized therapeutic benefits. The Centro Universitário das Faculdades Metropolitanas Unidas School Clinic of Music Therapy serves a total of 82 patients, approximately 1200 sessions per semi-annually.
