Abstract

The present study proposes to analyze the health and nutritional status of the military and to relate operational and metabolic stress as impacting factors in the short and long term and how nutritional intervention can contribute to avoiding and mitigating the harmful effects throughout life, through a qualitative systematic bibliographic review of an exploratory nature based on the literature available in books, journals and scientific articles in databases. Analyzing the nutritional profile, with anthropometric data and metabolic profile, and type of physical effort, such as military training and field action, from recruitment to retirement, it was possible to observe the alternation in the health pattern and nutritional status of the military, in the which function and stressors added throughout the career corroborate for modulations of eating behavior and subsequent, increased risk for the development of overweight and obesity and associated diseases. Considering that more research and nutritional interventions with adequate supply for the specific nutritional needs of militias, that is, those who have greater demands than general populations, can positively impact to reduce the common deleterious effects of the area and in the long term, guarantee less expressiveness of the observed risks.
