Abstract

This article is the result of a scientific initiation carried out during the Psychology course at Centro Universitário das Faculdades Metropolitanas Unidas - FMU, in São Paulo, SP. The proposal is to explore in depth the origin of the concept of transference in Freud and Lacan, its transformations over time, with an analysis comparing the two authors. It is a qualitative, exploratory research with a bibliographic design. By analyzing these approaches, it is significantly observed that both contribute to the understanding of the transference phenomenon, each offering a perspective that enriches clinical practice. It can be said that, for both Freud and Lacan, the psychoanalyst operating from his/her position does not use power due to the force of transference, but rather welcomes it and uses it as material for analysis.
