Abstract: This paper aims to highlight the benefits, obstacles, and exemplary cases of the use of artificial intelligence (AI) in the Brazilian Judiciary, based on the process of digitization and, subsequently, the employment of AI. Moreover, the analysis also examines the pros and cons of such implementation. The focus is on civil actions within the São Paulo State Court of Justice (TJ-SP, acronym in Portuguese) between 2016 and 2026. The research methodology is based on the deductive method, starting from the general situation provided by the introduction of AI, specifically addressing the judicial services of the indicated Court. The techniques used include bibliographical research, as well as direct interaction with the relevant tools not only at the São Paulo State Court of Justice (TJ-SP), but also at other courts in Brazil and abroad that have adopted this technological innovation, investigating the limitations and advances provided. A combination of historical and theoretical research is used both in the investigation, and in the data analysis phase, and depending on the results, other methods may be employed in the research reports if deemed more appropriate. So far, the results indicate a significant improvement in the efficiency of law enforcement in courts that have implemented AI as a working tool. The use of AI allows for quicker and more accurate processing of complex data, contributing to faster resolution of cases. This approach aligns with technological advances, offering innovative solutions to the constantly evolving challenges of the Brazilian legal system. Finally, regarding potential criticisms and especially abuses in the operation of such tool, it proposes, as stated by Bill (PL, acronym in Portuguese) No. 21/2020, the use of an artificial intelligence impact report to ensure transparency in the use of algorithms, which are the means by which AI is implemented.
